Philippine Outreach
Christian Fellowship started in the living room of Chrissy's
home in 1985. A small group of villagers gathered at the first
meetings, several of whom gave their lives to Christ.
Among them was
Danny Rodillas, an ex-prisoner from Barretto's 164 jail, where
he had attended the POC outreach services. Danny lived for some
time in the POC rehabilitation home and was sponsored by POC
in bible school. He is now pioneering a work in a small village
of Subic where he resides.
In 1990 POCF moved
into the town centre in a small rented building. Many more were
added to the church at that time as they reached out into the
community having home visits and home bible studies for new
believers.
The building encountered
severe damage when the roof collapsed under the weight of ash
from the eruption of Mt. Pinatubo. Many pastors of the Subic
area evacuated at that time, but Dondie was concerned for his
parishioners and refused to leave. Many "sheep without
a shepherd" found refuge in POCF at that time, and they
soon outgrew the building in Subic town centre.
The next move
saw POCF transfer to the former cock pit arena. It was a very
big facility but is was very basic, with just an open sided
building which was difficult during rainy season. When the owner
of the cock pit arena needed his building back, he kindly built
another smaller building for POCF to continue using for the
fellowship.
Membership grew
steadily reaching approximately 150 members including children.
Dondie, as the pastor was very diligent about training people
within the congregation for active involvement in the ministry
within the church and church outreach.
Though Dondie
was furthering his studies by doing a masters degree in theology,
he continued to pray for increased vision for POCF. He believed
the Lord leading him to believe for the pioneering of 4 other
outreaches aside from the Subic fellowship. Since then POCF
has pioneered churches in Roosevelt, Canaynayan and Laguna.
Dondie is praying
and believing the Lord for a great move of God in the Subic
area. There was a tremendous move among the young people on
Father's Day 2002 and many children and young people came to
Christ and were baptized in the Holy Spirit. POCF are expecting
even greater things for the future.
POCF are praying
for a facility closer to the town centre where they will be
able to reach out to the many people groups in need.
